HTC Desire

HTC Desire

Testimony :)

I have not yet found a topic dedicated to this device and I think it deserves one, so I opened it and in the following I have to say a few first impressions of him:

I purchased three days and Overall general impression is good. Before that I had (like in this order): some older (irrelevant), Mio A701, Nokia E50, HTC TyTN II, Asus P565, Nokia E52, Samsung Omnia I8910 HD and now Desire (ie a mixture of Symbian winmobile). Now Asus P565 also owns another is still on top in terms of the GPS (this also because complete package that came equipped in this respect - Charger + Car Mount) which is why I keep thinking about him yet - to enlighten me with Android. I admit that I have not tested the Android's GPS but I do not think that can be measured (yet) to peer with winmobile's about it - and thanks very much part of this software (I think ... yet!). But I feel a very strong momentum in the near future for Android

I start with first impressions (in a totally random order - as I have come to mind):

1.Despre battery still can not tell you anything ... we have too little time ... but now I seem to do well for the capacity that has (1400 mA) and the resources you need to go. As can say that I use mobile internet from Vodafone (option 500 MB), a WiFi router at home, talking about 10-15 minutes per day on average (ie very little), music + movies at all (not their followers on mobile devices), games when I get bored sometimes bad (but rarely) mail: Register Exchange + 2 yahoo accounts - all made to synchronize every hour of application "Mail" default. From what I read before I purchase the device - its weakest point seemed to be the battery. Now ... I'll see how it behaves and I hope to not be so big problem.

2. Data connections (Internet live from Vodafone) must be set manually (no automatic SMS now those settings for this model ... but predict that will appear soon) but is simply following the instructions on the Vodafone site (must introduced only connection name, APN, username and password). Wifi connection ... I had some work here but that because of my router settings on. A need to give him mouth mura'n (of Wifi -> "Advance") all settings: IP manually (static), Gateway, subnetmask, DNS, etc. (plus of course the WPA key). But eventually he went. Here I remembered something and I want to make a "notes" that referred to all the devices on the interface: interface phone wherever you are and you can not find what not setting or function -> try to trust the "Menu" (located at the bottom - the second from left to right) that will display the options "unexpected" (able to "laugh" but for some, accustomed to another kind of concept of the interface / settings and functions and may be nice)

3. Net of moving very well (with the default browser - for now). I've not bothered to install opera (or other browsers) that seems to behave very well the original (both on and especially data connection via WiFi). Wifi connection to the stand a lot better than all the terminals that we have had so far (in terms of: connection stability, battery consumption, speed, etc.). Here I would like to mention another thing this super useful and interesting device: the multi-touch that allows you to do (in a web page and not only) required a lot of "gestures" interesting

4. Camcorder / camera I have no idea ... I have not started a ... and I do not think I could do. I do not care at all this ... so I can not help / confused about it. Samsung's Omnia no HD that I had before I did not used to this end (which was very potent for features).

5. Mail: I heard some complaints on various forums default mail application. Thousand one seems ok. As I said: I managed to set up 3 email accounts in five minutes, all syncs every hour (at the exchange can be set and push + any interval can be set individually - for each account), everything I seems ok. It has all the possible settings that I have encountered so far on any handset ... So ... I see no problem. You can switch between accounts. Has received notifications for mail (visual, sound + vibrate). One account is set default (usually the first that you configure). Everything seems fine (that interested me most to me this device!). The only "problem" in this I had a ... my fault: the Exchange account settings, asked me to activate the compulsory "security code" for the phone (we happened to it all terminals far less on Samsung Omnia HD). It is the fault of the Exchange server (to which I connect) which requires mandatory thing to set the phone account. Good ... and enter the code once I + a second time for confirmation and I had no idea what code I entered. And entered the phone in standby, to automatically blocked and when I came to open it: I ask for the code - obviously. I put myself ala I knew - nothing. And warns me that I have nine attempts (so 10 is all! If put "security code" wrong). And obviously out of 10 attempts all I got was the code in question and already green front - especially the last attempt - but I said "or whatever." After the the 10th attempt I say wrong "format & erase all data" (I deleted everything I had into the phone: settings put them on the default data connection + wifi, email accounts, calendar, calendar applications, etc ... all). The SD Card has not been reached - ala escaped after which he gave "Restore factory settings" and restart brand new IACA And so we had to start over with a new terminal noutz after a day on horseback But him say again: it was only my fault. It automatically makes a backup on SD card - which he found upon reboot and asked me if I want to give the restore everything was there but obviously with the same password password no longer nimenream nicium The good thing is that nothing has happened worse such as: terminal block to all - have to take him in service or what not

6. Phone settings: super complete and very useful. Here we notice a setting that I personally find it very "smart" - namely: the Sound & Display -> Quiet ring on pickup (explanation: "When I move reduces phone ring volume"). I personally think it's a great setting. I have never met before to no end (in what I owned). Nokia had earlier seemed like something similar: first loud sound and then decrease in intensity but not based on sensor and ... I know not "information" Everything from here something very useful: what to Synchronize your phone and what not (and when) - That's not to crazy traffic and also your phone and battery protection (ie a totally useless for me and we eliminated it from the start was "stocks" - sync). + All settings will think of ... me they seemed very complete.

7. Agenda + calendar. Here is a small problem in the sense that an application that comes your syncronizare ("HTC Sync" - the latest version at this time) not only knows how to work with your data cable big minus for me! I would have liked to can Synchronize data (contacts + calendar) and Bluetooth. I conecatat phone to laptop via bluetooth but nothing - "HTC sync" does not know his work through this connection ... data cable only. Hopefully that will fix along with an update - everything is possible. Otherwise very nice sync with Microsoft Outlook (for example) - contacts + calendar - Calendar razor functions are super fine and satisfying (here you can choose between standardized schedule or calendar Android HTC). Address book seems very ... bushy. I still did I set that when I press "Phone" to defend my numbers in the phone memory only (not those on the SIM card) ... but still studying.

8. Call quality is very good headset phone - normal (not handsfree speaker = rear). I thought it was somewhere between Nokia (who excels in this chapter from my point of view) and Samsung Omnia HD that I had before - but not very large differences (significant). The sound can be heard quite clearly and especially strong enough. Tones are ok and can be set however you want ... although until I get how to set a tone for a contact that is - it took me something - and not even I found the "easy" method

9. Signal reception (GSM) is ok, especially as the local area is super weak signal - but we had no problems (we'll see next how this affects my battery life). All other terminals significantly affected my battery - this! You watch the phenomenon.

I could not fit everything back to the first post so supplements:

10. Build quality seems pretty device ... ok. The materials are quite ... quality. I sometimes seem to hear as they move buttons - or something inside the device (the buttons seem to be metal and reach - with a little game - especially the volume and the on / off) - but is not extremely disturbing (almost invisible). Maybe I am too sensitive to "noise" Otherwise I'm really ok plastic especially compared to Samsung before that was a fingerprint magnet and it was "full fat" all the time. Desire seems to me that the muuuuuuult be better from this point of view because the materials used (no longer in that state capture fingerprints ALA). The only cloud that still is-obviously-screen ... What do you have in this chapter.

11. Screen quality is superb - on par with the Samsung site before (wage visual) but slightly more "attractive" because of higher resolution. And I feel it is more sensitive to touch ... what seems a very good thing. In this regard I would like to make here a remark somewhere in the settings is a tool for calibration of the screen (for typing - virtual keyboard) -> use it with confidence - helped me fall more in the precision with which the virtual keyboard letters You make a short test which puts you to type text classic "... brown fox jump over the lazzy dog ..." or something like that ("connoisseurs" I know what I mean) and calibrates itself and to me felt a clear improvement.

12. Widgets: super helpful and pleasant. A great addition to this chapter. Use with confidence: Weather - sync once a day (I took everything and left only the city where I live ... it implicitly comes with a lot of "locations" useless for me), mail (3 accounts) favorites (people) news (I made early on Engadget - sync once a day) and calendar.

13. Notifications: super useful and cool implemented. I really like the method by which this was implemented in Android (in top bar)

14. Social networks - a lot - I think it's the most complete in this ... but unfortunately I found myself not really the client in this

15. FM radio - I saw the menu - there is so - but that's not passionate about me at all. Headphones are sealed in pungulita that came and I think it will remain until you change (upgrade) this device

16. Gmail - put your email address from Gmail account and have all available

17. Google Maps - a super useful application ... and a few days available (officially) and Romania (the. en) Here I want to mention something super nice "street view" - but only works in certain locations (unfortunately) ... and in particular can use one of the sensors and when your phone back the other way actually see the "street view" as it moves the camera's viewing angle - super cool stuff - shame it does not work (option "street view") in much of Europe (what to say of Romania).

18. Market Place at the android: super fine and smart ... download everything you want from there ... there are plenty of free ... applications + games - super fine - you install them immediately. A recommendation: read first on the net some reviews on an application or a game before you install it - not everything is "ok" or ... choose from, in some cases, from several "versions"

19. Handling, form-factor: super ok! That I searched forever (so far) to a mobile terminal! Diagonal screen (and the default terminal) seems the best from my point of view (at least for me). And a huge plus for how slim is the clear winner so far - a short distance (but significant) by former Samsung Omnia HD. We flirted a lot and HTC HD2 but the main factors for which I chose was the form-factor (-HD2 is significantly higher ... which I personally do not like) and the battery is slightly lower in HD2. Otherwise the winmobile does not have any problems - even very well reconcile us since "history" less likely but ... I agree winmobile future (say 7 or like him) ... from what I read so far on the net

In conclusion: I am happy overall. Compared to the device's so far shown a clear step forward conceptually technology (hardware and software) - less power (in some cases). What interested me most in the near future is the battery life ... that I have great "doubt" (lately) about all manufacturers of mobile terminals (Why put some batteries on some terminals so pathetic as "consuming" ... only they know). Well ... "I know" but ... the ridge thing annoys me. It was as pe'aci to get a Nokia E72 (the most potent of this point of view, and to satisfy my somewhat-increasing requirements exist on the market today) and finish with all the "circus" that linked The short battery life on the terminals "modern" (touchscree - "future", etc.). But I thought: let's still "a step towards the future" and not a "back" now, not regret - after only 3 days. We'll see in the following

Excuse any misspellings / expression / form (your indulgence - not a "review it" to "profession")
