Socket AM3 endangered
In an attempt to more aggressively promote their new desktop processors currently unreleased, Llano and Zambia (Bulldozer), AMD decided to quit as soon as the current bid. Thus, processors Athlon Phenom II and II, which already use socket AM3 consecrated, are increasingly rare, and they will officially cease to exist in the first quarter of next year 2012.
.
And instead of a single socket, we have two similar situation from Intel. First, FM1 is for processors with integrated graphics, with average performance and old architecture, Llano. The fastest debut A8-3850 (quad core 2.9 GHz, 4 MB L2 cache and GPU Radeon HD 6550D) will cost only $ 135.
And second, retrocompatibil AM3, AM3 + and suggestively named, will host the high end segment, Bulldozer. So AMD does not want to complicate with too many simultaneous processes, and wants to maximize profit by selling the most successful CPUs.
