He found a promising solution for amnesia: olfactory cell transplantation
Mice were found amnesia and memory thanks to a human olfactory stem cell grafts, the novel cell therapy experiments conducted by French researchers.
The results of this study, the fruit of collaboration between Marseille and Montpellier university teams associated with the National Centre for Scientific Research (Centre National la Recherche Scientifique / CNRS) in France, were published in the Journal of Clinical Investigation (JCI).
Human olfactory stem cells were injected into the brain or spinal fluid - that surrounds the spinal cord - the mice suffering from amnesia.
Four weeks after graft, behavior tests showed that mice included in this experiment have found the ability to learn and to memorize where is an object or to make the association between reward and a certain smell.
Animals tested achieved scores so similar to those of healthy animals, while mice amnesia, but untreated, remained unable to perform the tasks of learning and memory.
Tissue analysis revealed that human olfactory stem cells were successfully implanted in injured areas and were "different" (converted) in neurons.
Using nasal stem cells has many advantages, according to researchers: they are easily collected and cultured. In addition, each individual can be his own donor, eliminating the risk of immune rejection, ensuring immediate access to these cells.
In the long run, this study could pave the way towards a clinical trial based on olfactory stem cells autogrefarea amnesic human patients.
These tests will be continued under the same model animals suffering from other diseases such as Alzheimer's disease.
Enjoy ! Maybe is a new revolutionary cure for amnesia who now ! amnesia transplant
