TurboCache is still used
.
TurboCache technology from NVIDIA and ATI HyperMemory to have been a method by which, at a time when memory was expensive, PCI-E video cards with a few MB of RAM available to borrow from your PC. But, as we know it is slower RAM and accessed through interfaces less rapid.
In time these technologies have been abandoned and become unprofitable, unnecessary addition. But it seems that some manufacturers such as Gigabyte now, i still gave marketing effect. And to this end has launched a version of TurboCache video card GeForce GT 520.
It is equipped with 512 MB GDDR3 at 1,800 MHz, 64 bits, but still knows how to stop using 512 MB of system memory, the only manufacturer on the box stating the total memory. GPU frequencies are somewhat higher than normal, it has 830 MHz, 48 Stream Processors and climbing up to 1660 MHz. The rest is used for design reference.
Certainly the board has little to do with more than 512 MB of memory, but requires 1 GB marketing. And perhaps this ability is achieved through cheaper TurboCache (whatever)
