Those from Toshiba is preparing to launch a new series of HDDs ultra secure MKxx61GSYG capable of data encryption and wiping their car when they are endangered. More specifically these HDDs authenticate their PC they are connected, and when it is not in the list of accepted automatically delete all sensitive information.
These HDDs will go into production during the second quarter of 2011. And talk about models of 2.5 "(100 * 70 * 9.5 mm), with capacities between 160 GB and 640 GB, and one or two platters that spin at 7200 rpm. All have a 16 MB buffer, SATA 300, a maximum consumption of 2.3 W, 256-bit AES encryption.
