Nintendo has plans for Wii 2
.
Somewhere through the month of April 2012 Nintendo plans to release a new version of its popular Wii gaming console. The first generation is on the market in November 2006 and recently recorded declining sales. And it is the weakest console in terms of market performance (compared to Xbox 360 and PS3).
So the second generation is needed to Nintendo. But, unfortunately, it will not work miracles and hardware-level performance, but will only arrive in the same league with direct competition. Wii 2 is expected to have a tri core processor made by IBM and a GPU from AMD, the R700 generation (Radeon HD 4000), with 512 MB memory have to store.
In other words Nintendo wants to have as low production costs. Chips will be manufactured in 32 nm process technology to 40 nm, as appropriate, would reduce the subsequent revisions. For storage hardly settled things. Nintendo would like SSD, 64 or 128 GB. But it is very likely that eventually all be oriented to the HDD, much cheaper.
And games will remain on DVDs. And the controller will be improved, is expected to integrate a mini display, or at least a capacitive touch-sensitive area. And all these changes will make the Wii console 2:01 competitive until the 2014 to 2015, when both Sony and Microsoft will introduce new generations to their own. But we'll see exactly how it will get the Wii 2. We have to wait a year.
