At least 11 people died in Germany due to E. coli bacteria
A woman aged 91 years who contracted E. coli bacteria Enterohaemorrhagic died in West Germany, local authorities announced Monday, the balance of the victims of this disease probably reached 11 dead.
The patient died at Paderborn (West Germany), the first victim reported outside the area north of the country, the main focus of infection.
So far, all deaths are concentrated in the north, mainly in Hamburg and Schleswig-Holstein.
The woman, aged 91, died Sunday after developing severe kidney disorder called hemolytic and uremic syndrome (HUS), caused by bacteria.
Robert Koch Institute, responsible for overseeing health and fight disease, has seen months 319 patients who developed severe kidney disorder called hemolytic and uremic syndrome (HUS), but, to date, has allocated only three deaths directly bacteria.
