Pyramids discovered by a NASA satellite
Egypt: 17 pyramids discovered by a NASA satellite.
An archaeological treasure consists of 17 pyramids and tombs and thousands of old houses was discovered in Egypt by American archaeologist Sarah Parcak with data and images transmitted by a satellite of NASA.
Excavations have already confirmed the presence of many of these artifacts, including two pyramids, according to information submitted by the British television channel BBC, which fund archaeological excavations.
"I could not believe it so I could find so many sites throughout Egypt, " said Parcak, professor at the University of Alabama at Birmingham, pioneer of "archaeological area", an emerging discipline.
"The discovery of a pyramid is the dream of all archaeologists, " added Sarah Parcak.
The archaeologist and his team were digging in these sites to determine how the images broadcast by satellites can be used in archeology.
For a year, Sarah Parcak used the images broadcast by a NASA satellite orbiting at 700 km altitude and has made many high definition photos of the cemetery of Saqqara infrared and Tanis, an important archaeological site in north-eastern Egypt.
Attributes of these cameras distinguishable objects with a diameter of at least three feet on the ground.
The infrared imaging can identify the different materials buried, allowing the tracking of structures found in basement of old house bricks and clay, a material denser than the soil around these buildings. This can be found various types of houses, tombs and temples.
