The earth is not alone in orbit around the Sun. Who is our partner
Astronomers studying the comments made by the WISE telescope found the first "trojan" that orbits the Sun with the Earth, according to NASA.
.
Trojans are asteroids orbiting a planet's position in one of stable equilibrium points, called Lagrange points. They accompany the planet in its rotation around the sun, preceding it or following it, a definite angle.
Because asteroids are always in front of or behind the planet there is no possibility to collide with it. In our solar system, asteroids share the same orbit of Neptune Trojans, Mars and Jupiter. Also, two of Saturn's moons orbit the Trojans share.
Scientists have assumed that the Earth should also Trojan asteroids, but they were hard to find because they are small and occur too close to the Sun, from the standpoint of our planet, and are "masked" light astral.
TK7 asteroid 2010 was confirmed as a Trojan telescope observations of the Earth after Mauna Kea, Hawaii.
Trojan planet is about 300 meters in diameter and an unusual orbit, the drawing motion above and below the complex Earth's orbit around the Lagrange point.
The object is at a distance of about 80 million kilometers from Earth and will not close more than 24 million miles, at least the next hundred years.
'Orbit' is stable for at least 10,000 years, "says Martin Connors from Athabasca University in Canada and other astronomers have confirmed the discovery.
TK7 asteroid discovery in 2010 was facilitated by the fact that it has "an unusual orbit the Sun removes more than with most Trojans," said Connors.
