The front suspension has a MacPherson configuration with lower aluminum swing arm and hydraulic bushings. Semi-independent rear suspension is fitted with a composite shaft (torsion bar), which harmoniously combines the advantages of a conventional torsion beam axle with low weight and consistent control of the camber of the wheels.
The power steering rack mounted ZF integrates high quality components. It is equipped with double gears, one for direction and one for extra assistance, providing variable-effort steering.
The advanced braking disc allows a maximum value of energy generated during braking. This ensures maximum regenerative braking via the electric motor, recharge the battery during braking and disc brakes at the touch of a strong pedal faster vehicle stop all operations which are imperceptible to the driver.
Optimum level of passive safety
Ampera body structure is characterized by high rigidity and impact resistance.
In the process of developing safety systems model amps were made more than 50 crash tests at different speeds and from different angles, including side impact, front, rear and rollover.
He also conducted a number of tests to ensure adequate protection of lithium-ion battery, including tests to check the degree of sealing it in wet or flooded conditions. In an emergency, the battery can be quickly disconnected by rescue crews.
