A U.S. satellite will fall to Earth on or around September 23, in a region that has not yet been identified, scientists at NASA announced on Friday, stating that risks to people is "insignificant" because most of the the device will burn into the atmosphere.

Upper Atmosphere Research Satellite (UARS) is a satellite with a length of 10 feet weighing nearly six tons, informs AFP. He was placed in orbit in 1991 with the Discovery shuttle mission to study Earth's high atmosphere.

UARS mission has ended in 2005 due to lack of fuel, will fall to Earth on or around September 23, says the NASA official website.

"Although much of the satellite will break into several pieces, into the atmosphere, not all debris will burn", U.S. scientists said, adding that it is impossible at this time to provide the place where the waste will fall space.

U.S. space agency said that the satellite will fall to Earth in an area between 57 degrees north latitude and 57 degrees latitude, an area covering much of the Earth.

So far, "there was never any confirmation of production space accident caused by a device to re-air its" American experts have said.
