Core i7 3960X performance up to 50%
.
When Intel launched Sandy Bridge processors, set new performance standards in the field. And initial quad core sites could be overcome only hexa Gulftown core sites, and only in isolated situations. But later this year and the hex cores to be replaced by the model Sandy Bridge E, CPUs that use the new LGA2011 socket.
And initial tests conducted by Intel shows an increase of almost 50% average performance between Core i7 990X (hex core Gulftown at 3.46 GHz, 12 MB L3 cache, 130W TDP), the fastest desktop processor of the moment, and Core i7 3960X (hexa-core Sandy Bridge is from 3.3 GHz to 3.9 GHz TurboBoost, 15 MB L3 cache and TDP of 130 watts).
Specifically advantage of the fastest Sandy Bridge is the debut will be 47.25%. And due to high memory bandwidth (now with a quad channel DDR3 memory controller to 1600 MHz) and the new AVX instruction set.
